Luuk Lagrange – Invisible

Dance, Electronic, modern pop

Usually, we’re not hugely impressed by lyric videos. Yes, they can be interesting when you’d struggle to make out what the words are any other way, but if you’re not careful, they can actually be distracting more than anything. One of the best exceptions to the rule we’ve seen for some time comes from shadowy UK producer, Luuk Lagrange – super-slick and a brilliant link to the invisible theme of the track, it’s the kind of intelligent dance music which Britain is really taking the lead on globally.

Yeti Love – ‘Deep’ Single

Folk, punk, Rock

It’s well known that a strong work-ethic in the modern industry is often as important as the quality of the songs and the fact that Yeti Love has both makes this year one full of potential for the pair.

The Jade Assembly One Last Time

Indie, Rock

The saying ‘can’t see the wood for the trees’ could easily be applied to Manchester’s music scene… So many bands, so much attitude, so much history.  Keen to stand apart from their contemporaries, The Jade Assembly are in this for the long haul and for the right reasons, nothing is fabricated or posed, their attitude comes from an inescapable force of conviction in their music.

”Best Guitar band since Kasabian”
Clint Boom, XFM/Inspiral Carpets

”Flying flags and empowering crowds, with their anthemic rock and roll, The Jade Assembly are he enthusiastic spawn of the Britpop ere”
Emily Schofield, The Mover Music Blog

Nina Jones and new single ‘Purple Rain’

Uncategorized

Reliving the Prince hit – single out July 6th

Based in Newport, South Wales, Nina Jones is the latest vocal jewel from a country which boasts a stellar musical heritage. At just 17 years old, hers is a voice which already holds the maturity and depth of singers well beyond her years.

Her new single is a cover version of the iconic Prince track ‘Purple Rain’ – one of the songs that saw Prince become a household name in the 1980s.

The languid, artistic video is available online now, and you can see it below:

The decision to continue learning and working from what has gone before is a demonstration that, even as a teenager, Nina is still grafting hard to learn her craft from those who have gone before.

And, with coverage and national support from BBC Radio Wales, it’s an approach that is obviously working well.

PurplerainPrimage

Each step forward marks a new marker along her journey into the music industry, and one that Nina Jones is willing to work very hard at indeed. In addition to releasing her solo singles and working on her own material going forward, Nina is also studying for her A-Levels and playing regularly with a superb 9 piece function band. With a work ethic like this, it’s easy to see Nina Jones’ dedication to music taking her a long way.

Berenice Scott blows fans away with piano-pop single ‘Walls Cave in’

Uncategorized

Track taken from POLARITY album out June 8th

Born in Paris, France but now based in London, Berenice Scott is the talented product of a truly bohemian upbringing. After travelling the world with artistic parents – a French mother and British father – drinking in a host of musical influences to inform her own writing, her chamber-pop songs are a thoughtful mix of wistfulness and a quiet power.

A professional session musician specialising in the commercial pop world, her independent, improvisational spirit grew from early days as a pianist. Piano teachers would always be suprised with her penchant for playing around with structures and learning by ear as opposed to reading music by sight, but in reality Berenice was finding her own way, by feel for the music as opposed to prescribed routes and notes.

With a songwriting style driven by a love of piano, Berenice Scott’s album ‘Polarity’ consistently provides excellent tracks from top to tail, including stunning singles such as ‘Walls Cave In’ – a beautifully building ballad which calls to mind the blended subtleties and pop sensibilities of Sarah McLachlan  and Vanessa Carlton:

The album ‘Polarity’ is a gorgeous collection, this has been created lyrically and musically matched to the emotions felt by Berenice Scott throughout her life. It’s a life which has evolved from growing up in a world of artistic genius, her parents counting Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood as their friends and contemporaries and sharing holidays with icons such as Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall.

It was destined that Berenice would follow a creative path, and did so with her innate musical talent. It’s a path which has seen her support Pink’s funhouse tour in a previous role as keys player for the band Raygun, as well as taking on support slots for Paul Weller and The Script.

For fans who really want to get to know Berenice Scott, check out her YouTube channel for an informal video series called ‘The Breakfast Club Sessions’, in which acoustic sessions are captured raw and without the pomp and pressure of the spotlight.

‘Walls Cave In’ will be available on May 25th, followed by album ‘Polarity’ which will be available on June 8th.

Fresh new duo Dalimore aiming ‘Higher’ with their newest single

Indie, Soul

New release unveiled on May 11th

A brand new duo from the North East of England, Dalimore are Dan Bishop and Nathan Brewis who formed as a duo late in 2014 having previously worked on separate musical projects. It hasn’t taken long for them to find their sound, with new single ‘Higher’ due for release on May 11th.

With comparisons to the likes of Kodaline, The Fray, The Script, Coldplay, Ben Howard and more, their tracks blend genres from indie, via soul, to pop-rock, taking in influences from their own individual backgrounds and mixing them to great effect.

You can hear the single ‘Higher’ on YouTube now, with a full official video due May 1st:

With the single recorded and ready for release, the pair are now working on ideas for their first EP, collecting together new tracks to continue on their journey to spread their music as far and wide as possible.

Their mission statement is to produce songs about making the most of life and working hard to be the best you can be – even when it seems easier to give up. It’s an admirable outlook, and one that has proven successful in the music industry in the past.10947368_774945575926906_4701347353023807058_o

If there’s any justice, this level of determination will soon see Dalimore making their own mark on the music industry.
